Hello, I am Pashmina Wiqar Shah, the new post-doc at the Lehrstuhl of Prof. Frank Suhr. I completed my PhD at the University of Lübeck, where I investigated the role of the pro-atherogenic MRAS gene in smooth muscle cells. Here at Campus Kulmbach (University of Bayreuth), I will be primarily working with skeletal muscle cells, investigating the role of mechanosensors in mouse skeletal muscle using an in vivo AAV-mediated knockdown approach. Moreover, I am also interested in developing co-culture experiments of skeletal muscle cells with divergent cell lines. My secondary project would be studying smooth muscle cells in the context of mechanotransduction with a particular focus on how aging influences the remodelling of smooth muscle cell mechanotransduction, its underlying mechanisms, and potential therapeutic targets.
